The day I got scammed, again..

I have to say the story is short.. I decided to purchase a “premium” subscription of chatGPT4..

I had my guard down and made a quick search on google and clicked on the first link… I wasn’t in a hurry and as a frequent user of chatGPT its not the first time I type in google and use it as a means to reach the application.

If I had googled turns out this is a pretty basic scam..

I started getting doubts when I realised that the access control was super lax.. and was allowing creation of an account with not much verification.

In an age where we dont think much clicking “next” and adding to kart.. plugging in my “saved” credit card details was no big obstacle in paying the years subscription.. which seemed reasonably priced..

I even asked the chat if its actually chatGPT4 🤦‍♂️ ….

This is super embarrassing..

Questions about how old the information base were pretty ambiguous..

The only way was to keep asking and test the limits..

I asked about the middle east crisis and by now I was sure I was scammed, since it shared no new information since 2021 and that is until when the chatGPT3.5 information base is limited too..

But there are better ways to see its shady..

and then of course a quick online search of the site shows its managed to scam more than a few people.. I removed my credit card info and inserted a virtual card, though it hardly matters as I should order a new card regardless..

So kudos to the perpetrator of this scam.. You got me.. despite everything I work with and know about and despite all the cyber security and hacking lectures I have been too.. the one moment I lay my guard down.. you got me – You Got Me.. 👏👏👏
